Welcome to our new steering group We were overwhelmed by our partners response to our request for new representation on our steering group and are pleased to announce the appointment of six new members. Between them they bring a mix of skills and expertise to strengthen the capacity of our existing group. Our new steering group members are: Louise Scott, Director of Global Sustainability at PwC Professor Stephen Martin, Chair of the English Learning for Sustainability Alliance Colin Curtis, Strategy Director at TBL Services Dr Wanda Wyporska, Executive Director at The Equality Trust Jason Perks, Senior Director of Sustainability UK at DNV GL Amanda Powell-Smith, Chief Executive at Forster Communications Together they join Dominic White, Farooq Ullah, Emily Auckland, Francesca Sharp, Nick Davies and Steve Kenzie to bring our steering group to eleven. Louise Scott, Director – Global Sustainability, PwC Louise is the COO for PwC’s Global Sustainability Network and is leading the firm’s work in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals. Louise has had a wide-ranging career with PwC, and extensive international experience and networks, built through her 25 year career with PwC. She has spent the past 6 years working within the Sustainability and Climate Change team, most recently as COO for the Global Sustainability team and leader of PwC’s SDG expertise. Professor Stephen Martin, English Learning for Sustainability Alliance Steve is a passionate advocate for learning for sustainability and has spent nearly 40 years facilitating and supporting organisations and governments in ways they can contribute towards a more sustainable future. In addition to a successful academic career, for nearly a decade he was a member of Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Further and Higher Education and served as a special advisor to the Secretary of State in the Department of the Environment. He has been a sustainability change consultant for some of the largest FTSE100 companies as well as Government Agencies. He was formerly Director of Learning at Forum for the Future, and founded the charity Change Agents. Colin Curtis, Strategy Director, TBL Services Colin is the former head of sustainability at Dimension Data, a multi-billion dollar global IT company and a subsidiary of Japanese telecommunications giant, NTT. He was responsible for their ‘People and Planet’ strategy, which considered how technology could be used to solve global issues. The strategy saw Dimension Data provide bicycles to children in Africa through sponsorship of Africa’s first professional cycling team, tackle rhino poaching, and create net positive environmental goals based on the use of cloud technology. Colin is a passionate supporter of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and founded TBL Services to help businesses support them. Dr Wanda Wyporska, Executive Director - The Equality Trust Dr Wanda Wyporska FRSA, is Executive Director at The Equality Trust, the national charity that campaigns to improve the quality of life in the UK by reducing social and economic inequality. She is also a Visiting Fellow at the University of York, a trustee of LGBT History Month and a regular commentator in the media. Previously, she led on equalities policy and campaigns (including anti-bullying, child poverty, social mobility and violence against women and girls) at an education trade union. She also worked with business and trade unions at unionlearn, the TUC’s learning project. Wanda was a Starun Senior Scholar at Hertford College, Oxford and published Witchcraft in Early Modern Poland 1500-1800 in 2013. Jason Perks, Senior Director, Sustainability UK, DNVGL Jason is a sustainable business expert with over twenty years' experience advising some of the world’s biggest and best-known companies in Europe, US and Asia. Jason leads DNV GL’s SDG work in the UK. He co-founded two highly successful sustainability consultancies (Sd3 and TwoTomorrows) before joining DNV GL. Jason has actively supported global sustainability initiatives, including the IIRC materiality working group and GRI, sitting on the WWF One Planet Business advisory board, being a member of AA1000 Interim Standards Board and the AA1000AS and APS technical committee. Amanda Powell-Smith, Chief Executive, Forster Communications Amanda Powell-Smith is Chief Executive of Forster Communications, an award winning leading social change PR agency. She has been working at the forefront of the sustainability movement for over 20 years, helping progressive organisations from all sectors to successfully combine commercial and social agendas. She firmly believes in the power of partnership for driving change and works with leadership teams to increase collaboration inside and outside their organisation. She was on the Steering group of the Centre for Social Justice Report Everyone’s Business: Making Business Work for All, and is on the Ethics Advisory Board for Ninety, a Community Investment Company.
