We’re thrilled to welcome Daisy Thompson to UKSSD’s steering group after she successfully applied to join us last year. Daisy is part of Nestle’s Sales Graduate Scheme and will be joining the UKSSD Steering Group to help improve youth representation in the network, our decision-making and activities.

Our ambition of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the UK is because we want current and future generations to have a good life on a healthy planet in the future. So last year we decided UKSSD needed to do more to engage and work with young people, as well as other marginalised or unrepresented voices, by having a young person on the steering group.

Nestlé nominated Daisy for this role when we opened a call to partners to put forward employees aged 18-25 to join the steering group. Daisy impressed us with her passion for the SDGs, experience of working with young people and her peers, and her understanding of engagement and relationship building approaches.

On joining the group, Daisy said:

I feel incredibly privileged to be part of the UKSSD steering group this year and am very much looking forward to getting stuck into my role. I am hoping that my connections with the graduates and apprentices at Nestle, my university peers, and work with youth charities like UpReach will enable me to deliver positive progress for UKSSD and their youth agenda. 2020 marks an important milestone for the SDGs – we have a lot to do but this can only be achieved with a positive mindset. I am looking forward to the challenge.

Daisy will start her role in 2020 working on a youth engagement plan. Her role is fixed for one year with the hope that a position can be offered on an annual basis to others from then on.
