Our story so far

UKSSD was launched at a conference in April 2016 to over 100 delegates. We’ve now grown to have more than 1000 organisations in our network, representing most sectors and industries in the UK.

Setting up a partnership initiative specifically designed to bring together organisations in the UK to work on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was the result of an event organised by Farooq Ullah of Stakeholder Forum and Dominic White for Beyond 2015 UK.

Following the event, a variety of stakeholders started to discuss opportunities and understand the context of the SDGs in the UK.

As the SDGs were being finalised in New York in September 2015, Stakeholder Forum, WWF-UK and Bioregional committed staff time to create a new initiative which has now become UKSSD.

Their support was quickly followed by Neighbourly and UN Global Compact UK, which joined as the first Partners. From then, our network has grown substantially to exceed 100 Partner organisations, with a wider network of over 1,000 organisations.

You can find out about our Partners on our network pages and find out about our governance on our Steering Group page.
