Founded a decade ago the Legal Sustainability Alliance (LSA) is a collaborative network of the UK’s leading law firms who are taking positive action around climate change by measuring, managing and reducing their carbon emissions.

We have over 130 firms in membership ranging from small two partner practices through to the largest global law firms, all of whom share a commitment to developing more sustainable working practices.

Membership of the LSA is free and open to all UK firms, in house council and chambers as well as affiliated organisations, providing a wealth of resources and a collaborative network sharing best practice and advice. Members may also use our free carbon footprinting tool designed especially for the legal sector.

Legal Sustainability Alliance and the Sustainable Development Goals

We are supporting our members to map their own activity around SDGs, and to support the wider sector to implement the most relevant goals in their firms. We have identified the key goals as particularly relevant to the legal sector -  6 (clean water), 7 (affordable and clean energy), 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure), 12 (responsible consumption and production), 13 (climate action) and 17 (partnerships for the goals).

We are committed to supporting practical action by law firms and reporting on these goals.
