The Black Cats, fueled by high expectations from an average attendance of 41,158, are eager to improve upon last season’s 16th-place finish.

In contrast, Cardiff City, who host Saturday’s game, finished last season in 12th place after losing six of their final nine league games of the 2023/24 season.

It was a disappointing end to the Welsh clubs campaign, although fans will be optimistic about the potential £3 million acquisition of midfielder Alex Robertson from Manchester City, which could be finalized soon.

Chris Willock has also joined during the summer following his departure from Queens Park Rangers.

Sunderland are the slight favourites to take all three points although there is not much to choose between the two sides.

Both sides would probably be satisfied with a point.
