Leeds Utd and Daniel Farke will look to put last season’s playoff heartache behind them as they face Portsmouth in front of the Sky Sports cameras this lunchtime.

Leeds are once again heavy favourites for the Championship title this season, and after last seasons exploits, few would disagree.

Despite securing an impressive 90 points last season, they missed out on direct promotion and suffered an agonizing defeat to Southampton at Wembley, continuing their unfortunate streak in the play-offs.

Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray may have left but the Lilywhites look particularly strong coming into this new season, on paper at least.

Daniel Farke has held on to his job in the Leeds Utd hot seat and continues to lead the team with a proven track record of success in the Championship, having won the title twice with Norwich.

He has consistently achieved over 90 points in each of his Championship seasons. Another season achieving similar points would likely secure the title for Leeds this time around.

Pompey has traveled a challenging path, tumbling from the Premier League in 2010 to League Two, but winning League One in impressive fashion last season.

Under John Mousinho’s leadership, this South Coast team has reemerged as a formidable contender, playing an entertaining brand of football.

Like Leeds, they are determined to ascend back to the top tier of English football.

It should be an decent match in front of the Elland Road faithful today.
