UKSSD is pleased to announce that in partnership with researchers at the Realising Just Cities programme, we have secured funding for a two-day residential workshop to explore how UK cities can localise the Sustainable Development Goals

Earlier this year UKSSD worked with researchers from the Realising Just Cities programme, part of the Urban Institute at the University of Sheffield, to apply for a grant from the Grantham Centre for Sustainable Futures. Having successfully secured the grant, we will now work together to deliver a two-day residential workshop for representatives from local authorities and other urban stakeholders to explore approaches to localising the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in UK cities.

Our aim is to build a coalition of city-based stakeholders who could collaborate on a future programme which would aim to accelerate localising the SDGs in the UK.

The workshop will be hosted in Sheffield and will involve a mixture of case studies and immersive learning opportunities. We will share the experiences from a range of city representatives and city-based stakeholders who are championing the SDGs in the UK including some UKSSD Partners. Local representatives who are already progressing the SDGs in their city will be invited to participate and share their challenges, so we can identify future opportunities for collaboration.

The workshop is invitation only and for representatives from cities that have already made some progress with developing an approach to integrate the SDGs in their city programmes/plans. If you would like to participate please contact [email protected]
