Sheffield Utd
After a difficult season in the Premier League where the Blades gathered only 16 points, Chris Wilder’s team will be looking for a marked improved as they drop down a level into the Championship.
Last season, the Blades finished at the bottom of the Premier League, securing only a miserly three wins and conceding a record breaking 104 goals, ending the season 16 points away from safety.
Preston NE
Preston, the hosts for Friday’s match, finished 10th in the Championship last season and will be looking to kick on and at least reach the playoffs this time.
The Lilywhites began as early frontrunners last season, remaining unbeaten until late September, but ultimately ended the season 10 points shy of the playoff positions as their form took a dramatic dip.
Long time skipper Alan Browne left for Sunderland during the summer and there are doubts of impressive goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, who is also a doubt for this one through illness.
Sheffield Utd are the favourites to come away with all three points in this one but this should be a tricky opener for the Yorkshire club.
