Nestlé, Nando’s, BaxterStorey, WWF, the Food Ethics Council and more join UKSSD’s new Food System Programme to switch-on the SDGs in the UK.

A pioneering roadmap to transform the UK’s food sector is being developed by UKSSD. Our new Food Systems programme brings together cross-sector organisations to work on fixing problems throughout the system.

Building on the recommendation in our landmark report, Measuring up, our Food Systems programme addresses the negative environmental and social impacts of the current food system in the UK, identifying innovation and collaboration opportunities for sector actors.

Recognising the need for systems transformation, the programme is the first of many UKSSD will develop to accelerate progress towards the SDGs for 2030.

Speaking about the launch, Nestlé UK & Ireland's Head of Sustainability, Anna Turrell said: 

In order to create a world where an anticipated 9 billion people are all living well and within the boundaries of our planet, by 2050, we need to take action now. We need a systemic transformation of the food system to achieve healthy people and a healthy planet, and the Sustainable Development Goals provide a great framework to identify intervention pathways to achieve this.
