Friday night’s Championship match between Oxford Utd and Coventry City in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
After their late run for the playoffs ultimately came up just short at the season’s end, Coventry City still had a commendable campaign, spearheaded by Mark Robins.
The Sky Blues finished a respectable ninth in the Championship, trailing the playoff spots by nine points, with Norwich City clinching the last top-six position.
Apart from their league achievements, fans were also treated to a cup run, with Coventry advancing to the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley.

Coventry City
Mark Robbins’s side were tantalizingly close to reaching the final but were ultimately eliminated by Manchester United in a penalty shootout after a critical offside call, missing out on a potential showdown with Premier League Champions, Manchester City.
Oxford Utd
Their opponents tonight, newly promoted Oxford United, not initially seen as promotion contenders, defied expectations.
Des Buckingham came in as the new manager in November 2023 and he did a superb job in getting the O’s back up to the Championship in England.
While Bolton Wanderers and Peterborough United were the preseason favorites for promotion, Oxford finished fifth, securing a playoff spot by a three-point margin over Lincoln City in seventh.
In the playoff semi-finals, they faced and narrowly overcame Peterborough United in the first leg, setting up a final at Wembley.
On the season’s opening day, Oxford defied the odds and put in a superb shift against a well fancied Norwich City team, a strong contender and last year’s playoff semi-finalist.
Oxford secured a 2-0 victory with goals from Cameron Brannigan and Mark Harris, which puts them in good confidence coming into their first away trip of the season at Coventry on Friday.
