Despite a positive start to the new season, Sheffield Wednesday were put to the ground in their previous outing by Sunderland as they thumped in four past them, leaving the visitors no chance to materialise a comeback.

Manager Danny Rohl’s appointment last season proved to be the turnaround point for Sheffield as the German’s tactics enabled the team to avoid relegation and finish 20th in the league standings.

They will hope to circumvent the dropzone dogfight at the end of this season and compete at a much higher level to become a settled mid-table outfit.

Meanwhile, Leeds United were tilted to win the Championship title ahead of the start of the new campaign but things have not gone according to plan for them till now.

Daniel Farke’s men failed to consolidate their position in their season opener versus Portsmouth which led them to grab a last-minute equaliser from Brenden Aaronson to save the blushes.

The Lilywhites performed miserably in the first round of the Carabao Cup as they lost 3-0 to Middlesbrough. Goals from Anfernee Dijksteel, Delano Burgzorg and Josh Coburn sealed the game in favour of the visitors to silence Elland Road.

Leeds are yet to offer their fans a chance to celebrate something since the start of the season.

Team News

Svante Ingelsson and Di’Shon Bernard are expected to start the match with bookings from the last match.

Sheffield Wednesday have a fully fit squad ready for the match with the exception of goalkeeper Ben Hamer.

As for Leeds United, a 4-2-3-1 formation is expected to be fielded by Daniel Farke. Brenden Aaronson is expected to start the game alongside Willy Gnonto and Daniel James.

Ilia Gruev and captain Ethan Ampadu are set to start in midfield.
