West Ham Utd FC
The London-based side have not enjoyed the best of form in their pre-season clashes as they could only grab two wins, draw one and lose the remaining two.
Lopetegui has a job to build on West Ham’s performance from last season and it will take some time for the new faces to gel into the team but they are seen as one of the dark horses for this campaign.
Aston Villa FC
Meanwhile, Aston Villa have a huge season coming up for them as they are set to feature in the Champions League after a series of remarkable performances in the last one.
The Birmingham club have stressed to keep their hands closed for the transfer window to avoid getting into a financial pickle and go for a much more significant player shopping in January.
The Clarets experienced a bit of a mediocre pre-season campaign as they could not hit the heights of their expectations.
However, everything will depend on their performances in the Premier League and the other competitions. The match between these two tactically equipped forces is set to be a cracker as we welcome the new season.
Team News
West Ham are set to miss Edson Alvarez for the match as he picked up a hamstring injury at the Copa America.
New signings like Crysencio Summerville, Jean Claire-Todibo and Niclas Fullkrug are expected to start from the bench and ease into action later. Aaron Wan-Bissaka should registered as a Hammerer’s player ahead of the weekend and he should be in contention to start the game.
As for Aston Villa, Unai Emery will miss Boubacar Kamara and Tyrone Mings due to long-term injuries. There is uncertainty surrounding the availability of Ollie Watkins and Robin Olsen as both of the players missed pre-season.
