State Man is poised to compete against seven contenders in the Champion Hurdle, stepping up as the favorite in the absence of last year’s second-place finisher, Constitution Hill.

Considered the top hurdler from Ireland, State Man is the clear frontrunner, aiming to enhance his record with another Grade 1 victory. His ratings tower above his competitors.

Irish Point, redirected from the Stayers’ Hurdle by trainer Gordon Elliott after Constitution Hill withdrew, now stands as State Man’s chief challenger.

Despite the Champion Hurdle being a shorter race compared to his Jack de Bromhead Christmas Hurdle triumph in December, Irish Point has demonstrated versatility across various distances.

With Constitution Hill out, which was a blow to many true jump racing fans, Nicky Henderson is relying on Betfair Hurdle winner Iberico Lord and Luccia, but the British hopefuls are led by the experienced Not So Sleepy, who clinched this season’s Fighting Fifth.

The lineup for Tuesday’s 15:30 race is rounded out by Colonel Mustard, Nemean Lion, and Zarak The Brave, creating a field of eight and securing at least three spots for those betting each-way.
